The equipment to make Deviled Ham

Cutter or food processor
A cutter makes the sausage mixture fine and uniform. A food processor also works for small batches.
Make Deviled Ham – Step-By-Step Instructions
Cut your hot smoked ham into small cubes. The size should be adapted to your food processor.
Cut the celery into small cubes.
Cut the onions into small cubes. Here you also have the option to just put it in the food processor later. There it will also be chopped.
Put the ham in the food processor and turn it on. It is important that the food processor pulses.
Once the ham is finely chopped, put it in a bowl.
Add the rest of the ingredients to the ham and blend. It should end up with a nice binding.
Your Deviled Ham is ready. 😄 Enjoy it.
Frequently asked questions
What does "deviled" mean in deviled ham?
What does "deviled" mean in deviled ham?
It means spiced hot. “Deviled” is an old American kitchen word for anything given a sharp, peppery seasoning, and deviled eggs are the one everybody else knows. Here the heat comes from the cayenne pepper and the hot sauce in the list above, and that is the whole of the difference between this and a plain ham spread.
You will find it written “devilled ham” as often as “deviled ham”, and sold in a tin as deviled meat. Same thing in every case — and the tin is exactly what this recipe is for, because here you choose which ham goes in and how hot it ends up.
Which ham should you use?
Which ham should you use?
A hot smoked one, and it is the ingredient this spread lives or dies on. There is not much else in it: ham, mayonnaise, a little heat and two crunchy vegetables. Whatever smoke and salt the ham brings with it is what you are going to taste.
I use my own hot smoked ham, which is the link up in the intro, and it is worth the detour if the smoker is standing there anyway. If it is not, a bought smoked cooked ham from the counter does the job — ask for a piece rather than slices, so you can cut it into cubes the food processor can actually get hold of.
